Treat yourself to a healthy Nordic skiing winter retreat or a yoga trip to MEXICO.
Colleen Cannon, founder of Women’s Quest adventure programs, has sent hundreds of women into the outdoors via bike, horse, skate ski or foot. Cannon learned that physical activity was one of the most powerful and, perhaps the most under-used tool for personal discovery, balance and transformation. Beyond the athletic accolades like National Triathlon Champion and World Champion, she saw her successes not in titles, but rather in experiences. She says that she has a Ph.D. in Play!
DIVAS: In a few words what is Women’s Quest all about?
CANNON: I hope to enchant women with the experiences that coax happiness grown from joyful physical experiences.
DIVAS: Wow, a world class triathlete, what advise could you give to a never-ever or someone thinking about training for their first triathlon?
CANNON: I would recommend doing a women’s only race, like the Tri-babes Sprint or Tri for a Cure and I would defiantly practice an “open water swim” before the real race.
DIVAS: What are your favorite Women’s Quest trips?
CANNON: Women’s Quest has an array of retreats that I love but the yoga retreats in Mexico and the bike tours through Tuscany seem to bring out the best in my customers. I want to inspire and motivate women to take in all that life has to offer with a deep full breath and I feel sometimes that getting out of your element helps inspire that. I love the saying by Mary Oliver, “what are you going to do with your one wild and precious life?”
DIVAS: Winter is fast approaching what are you looking forward to?
CANNON: Our yoga trip to Mexico is fun but I like sliding on the snow — I think it’s really fun. We have this white stuff fall out of the sky and then we get to play in it! Also, I like the possibility of having a really good workout in a beautiful space outside in nature, the exhilaration of climbing a hill and the free ride downhill. It makes my body, mind and spirit feel rejuvenated. I do feel tired afterwards, ready for some hot chocolate, but rejuvenated.
