Women's Triathlons and Ladies Tri-gear

It is all about the tri-wear and transitions I am learning. Marily MacDonald

I have committed myself to a triathlon, it almost sounds as if I am going into a psychiatric ward. At times it has felt that way. No seriously, training and preparation has eased some of the anxiety and I am looking forward to the day.

Women's Triathlon

It will be the first time I have ever swam a race and ridden my bike competitively. I just got my training wheels off and I am working on getting rid of the water wings but I feel I will be ready in no time. At least I have the running part down. Just kidding but it does seem a bit overwhelming with all the transitions and gear you need to get into the sport (sports). Luckily with all the women’s only triathlons to choose from and different training groups to join I don’t think I will have too much trouble. The Tribabes are a great group of girls to train with and CWW also has a great training program. I am also going to check out the local “bricks” to work on transitions and get my aquatics nailed down. Boulder reservoir and Cherry Creek put on weekly rehearsals with coaches around for guidance.  I think I am going to do Tri for a Cure first in early August then jump in the Tri-babes Sprint in September. It seems I may be getting into a whole new world, or obsession. We’ll see how the first one goes.

The costuming also seems very important and every competitor has their way of doing things. Some wear wet suits, some change into bike shorts, some don’t use bike shoes; some bring two pair of goggles….and on and on. Really I think you have to do at least one triathlon before you truly figure out what your preferences are. Skirt Sports is now making a great line of tri-gear for ladies and actually the gear make the difference (your loins will thank you).

 The starters

As you progress I am sure your gear will too. So lets TRI our luck out there!
