Employee demo day at LOVELAND!

An outdoor DIVA ski and ride review

Diva demo day

We want to put our edge where our mouth is so we thought we better shut down the shops and hit the slopes bright and early. If we hope to sell skis we better know what we are talking about and by actually get on some planks is the best way. The snow conditions were perfect for most skis, especially this early in the season. The hard packed man-made snow luckily had a light dusting of powder and the blue bird Colorado day we had helped revive our ski legs. Though we didn’t ski any “powder” skis we all now have a better understanding of the features each brand and style have for all levels of skiers and riders. We skied on K2, HEAD, Dynastar, Rossignol, Volkl and our riders demoed k2 and Burton snowboards.

The Bio- Stance man, Chris was there and we each got a chance to “feel” the difference the system makes. Of course this system isn’t for every customer, but I noticed a very big improvement when I went from a ski without bio-stance, to a ski with bio-stance.  I actually felt more centered and more relaxed allowing less fatigue and I was able to ski more aggressively. I loved it! And cannot wait to get customers interested and pumped up!  Give Biostance a chance!

The verdict is out on our ski and ride review

Here is a brief over view of some of the skis we carry. All of the staff had the opportunity to test out the skis we carry. This review is a general consensus of the staff’s perspective of how the skis felt and responded. The DIVA squad ranges in skier type, age and aggressiveness. The breakdown has been grouped by the 5 styles of ski outdoor DIVAS carries.

  • The carve category which is narrower and skinner underfoot (64-68 mm).

Dynastar Exclusive Carve: A Jeannie Thoren design for that intermediate cruising women. A softer narrow ski great on groomer as well as bumps. May be too soft for a really aggressive and fast skier. .

K2 Buring Luv-A great transition ski for someone that is a beginner to intermediate skier that wants to advance. A very balanced and lively ski.

  • The groomer group being a bit wider (72-75 mm underfoot).

Volkl Attiva Luna- This ski wants to turn and can handle the crud.

K2 One luv- A soft and forgiving ski, great for family cruising or corduroy groomers, easily initiates turns.

Rossignol Bandit B78- A softer ski that likes to turn and has a playful light feel to it, quick edge to edge handling.

Dynastar Exclusive Legend-A stable ski designed for a women that usually likes mellower terrain but still like to get adventurous in the bumps or trees.

  • The all mountain ski (76-78mm).

Volkl Attiva Tierra-This ski can handle all that you want to put into it. Really holds an edge but can be a handful, great for an ex-racer.

K2 Lotta Luv-Lots of energy and manageable, felt stable and confident on this ski, a simple ski.

Roxy Broom Stick-A bit soft, would be a great park ski not great fro high speeds,

HEAD-Wild Thang-A DIVA favorite! Everyone raved about this ski. Manageable yet aggressive be it off piste or a mellow groomer, but the twin tips give you options to play a bit more on this ski.

  • A mid-fat (83-88).

Rossignol B-83- Very controllable for the width underfoot, great edge hold.

Dynastar Exclusive Legend Powder-Very damp meaning it is stable under high speeds, this ski likes to go fast.

HEAD Sweet fat- Head shaved off weight underneath the binding to create a unique, women's specific swing weight for a smooth ride in any condition. One of the lightest skies on the market it doesn't compromise construction. A crud buster with a smooth ride yet fun in the park going forward or backwards.

K2 Tough Luv- Great mid-fat ski with a very stable feel, a more advanced skier would get the most out of this powder hound of a ski.

  • A fat powder ski(92-102).

Roxy Black Magic-A lighter fat ski, a bit soft. The twin tips make it a playful ski yet not a quick turning ski.

Volkl Aura-The Volkl name stands up in the powder and will keep you floating on top.

K2 Nancy-Fat means fat, this ski wants to go off the backside or off piste. Floats through the pow pow.

K2 Phat Luv- It as if thisski almost hovers onto of the deep stuff. This ski will give you confidence on those powder days.

RIDE REVIEW

K2-Luna-  This board easy to learn on.

K2 Duchess-Stable and smooth, easy on the legs yet responsive. A forgiving board.

K2-Mix- Mixed feelings that is…this is a stiff aggressive board that can charge down the hill hard and fast.  Not for the faint of heart, you’ll get rocked if you’re looking for an easy cruise.  You work to earn every turn this board can dish out.  Made mostly for the pipe, you can take it on cruisers, but be ready to knock your teeth through the crud.  This stiff board doesn’t absorb any of the chatter you get riding hard over icy, hard-packed terrain.

K2-Vava Voom- This board remained stable underfoot while prompting the rider to loosen up and have some fun on the hill.  A fantastic park board for the girl who may want to take a few cruisers as well!

Burton FeelGood ES-A manageable yet damp and can hold up under pressure, nice edge control with it.

Burton-Stria-Responsive and easy to ride, a smooth and damp board underfoot with great twin tip-switch abilities.

Burton-GTwin-Great twin tip, solid board in and out of the park, felts confident trying to learn switch on this board.

~Divas carries other models of K2 and Burton but these were the boards our ladies got to demo.
